The Joy of Giving! A Chasing Joy Charity Event!!!

Reactions:
You know that feeling you get when you drop some canned goods into the bin at working for the food drive, donate a toy for Toys for Tots, or drop some change into the Salvation Army's donation kettle? Now take that good feeling, multiply it, then add a whole lot of scared as crap. That is how I'm feeling right now. If you keep up with Chasing Joy on FB and Twitter you may know why.

The reason I am a mix of emotions is because I am planning the very first Chasing Joy event. I wanted to start having some events for a variety of reasons, including wanting to connect more with you all IRL (in real life). I also want to be part of that segment of bloggers that dispel the myth that bloggers are antisocial, awkward, nerds, who cannot come from behind the computer screen. Now I may be a little nerdy and even awkward at times. But anti social and afraid to come from behind the computer screen I am not.

OK, back to the event. I am planning my 1st event! Yay! Since I have experienced and written about the great Joy that can be received from giving, I thought, what better for my first event than a Charity Event. So you are all invited (provided you'll be in Philly) the The Joy of Giving! A Chasing Joy Event.

Here are the details!
Join me on Saturday October 27th from 6:00 to 9:00pm EST at my favorite boutique for real women with curves, BellaNor Boutique! For three hours we will meet, mingle, enjoy light refreshments, win prizes, and do a little shopping if you like. This event will not cost you any money. However admission is NOT FREE. The cost of entry is one article (or more) of clothing to be donated to the recipient charity BC&W2. The type of clothing we are looking for is career and interview wardrobe, sizes 14 (large) and up for women transitioning from welfare to work.

The charity to benefit from the Clothing Drive is BC&W2, a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) program that provides discounted and free career wardrobe and tailoring to men and women going from welfare to work. BC&W2 initially started out providing only men's clothing but discovered there was a lack of free and discounted clothing available for plus sized women. Hence, our focus on womens' size 14 and up.

I am so excited about this.  Aren't you???  If you are wondering how you can get involved or help here's how.

Come to the event!!!  If you are in town join me that day.  Registration is preferred.  Respond to the event on Facebook here and /or Respond to the eventbright registration here.

If you are a blogger then blog about this event.  I challenge you to a writing prompt.  Tell me about the time you felt the greatest Joy from giving.  Include info about tThe Joy of Giving! A Chasing Joy Event and I'll tweet, share, google plus, and stumble the heck out of your post :-)

Become a sponsor!!!  I already have a few great sponsors lined up.  But I need some more to make this event a success.  Remember this event is for charity.  I am not making money from this event so I need all the help I can get.  Both sponsors to donate or contribute towards the refreshments and sponsors to donate products and or services to be given away as door prizes.  What do you get from being a sponsor?  Other than that warm feeling you'll have in your heart from know your supporting a great cause.  You will get the opportunity to attend the event and talk one on one with future and or current customers.  You will get your logo and link to your website listed on Chasing Joy for free until November 2012. (normal advertising rates are listed here).  You will enter into a joyful business relationship with me which includes me shouting your praises to all of my readers and focusing my social networking skills on you via Tweets and FB Shares.

What if I am smaller than a size 14, can I still attend?  Of course,  However, the cost of admission will not change. But I bet you know a lovely curvy girl who has some women's size work clothes that she is ready to get rid of.  Tell her about the cause and get her to raid her closet.

So spread the word, come meet me in person and support a great cause. Use hashtage #JoyofGiving to talk aobut the event on twitter. Who is comming to the event?  How will you get involved with the event???

An Image of Hope

Reactions:
Last Weeks Scavenger Hunt was another easy one. The theme was Hope and the task was to post an image that contained the word Hope to the Chasing Joy FB page or tweet it to me on Twitter.

I hope that everyone who participates in the scavenger hunts each week enjoys a break in their normal online activities.  The idea behind the Scavenger Hunt, is to add a little something joyful to your day and time online and get you to focus on one word that gives you some sort of good feeling.

This weeks winner, for the 2nd time in a row, is Morgan Dragonwillow!!! Morgan's image contained the word Hope and several quotes about hope, heath, enjoyment, and creativity.  Morgan is the author of the A Writer's Universe. A Writer's Universe is where Morgan expresses her passion to help others live courageously authentic, creative, and passionate lives filled with purpose via writing. Check her out on Facebook as Morgan Dragonwillow, Writer and Twitter as @MDragonwillo.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the scavenger hunt. Tune into to the Chasing Joy FB and Twitter pages on Tuesday to find out what we'll be hunting for this week.

Way to go Hurt! Way to go Wednesday!!!

Reactions:
Way to go Wednesday!  Way to go Wednesday is where we say way to go to our friends and family on Facebook and Twitter to  celebrate their accomplishments.  I am saying Way to go to my dog Hurt! (I did not name him)

Hurt Loves the Holidays!!!!

I have three pets. One dog, Hurt and two cats, Peanut and Pinto.  Today I am saying Way to go to Hurt for giving me so much joy for three years now.  I don't remember the day Hurt became a permanent resident of my house but I know it was about three years ago.  Now I love all of my furry friends equally but I'm shouting out Hurt because he was the one I initially did not want.

Hurt likes Peanut even though Peanut can be a bully.
Hurt belonged to my ex boyfriend's mother.  I was asked to take him in by the Ex.  I initially said no.  A dog is a lot of work compared to cats with the walking and the grooming.  But the Ex and my dad double teamed me and I gave in.  Three years later I can say Hurt is the best thing I got out of that relationship.  So way to go Hurt for giving us so much Joy.
Pinto is closer to Hurts age.  She does not quite trust him but every now and then they kick it.

Hurt always roots for the home team.

Sometimes Hurt can even get a little Crazy!!!

Do you have pets? What kind? How do they bring you Joy?

Friends + Castle + Wine = Joy

Reactions:
About a week ago I had the privilege of visiting a castle.  I'd never been to a castle before and it was great.  The castle was impressive and too big for me to fit it all in one photo.  This was no ordinary castle though.  It was was located in Eriwanna, PA smack in the middle of a winery, Sand Castle Winery!

A copule of days before I visited the winery I received a tweet from my twitter friend Jese Gary.  (You may remember that Jese was one of the models dropping all kinds of knowledge at the Full Figured Fashionista Class where I learned to be my own biggest fan.) Jese's tweet was inviting me to hang out with her at Sand Castle Winery for their annual Pig Roast.  After looking up the Winery and discovering it was only about an hour outside of Philly I tweeted back that I'd be there.

I'd never been to Erwinna so I recruited one of my girlfriends to come along and enjoy some wine.  We set out on a slightly raining afternoon that turned into a gorgeously sunny afternoon.  We had an absolutely fabulous time.

I spotted Jese as soon as we got there.  We were then quickly invited to enjoy our glass of wine and have lunch. The $25 fee to attend the Pig Roast included a lunch of you guessed it, roasted pork, along with potato salad, baked beans, rolls, and fruit salad, along with one glass of wine and a tasting of 12 different Sand Castle Wines.  We also got to keep our wine tasting glasses as souvenirs.

Now as a rule I do not like wine.  On more than one occasion I have had to concentrate super hard on not grimacing at the taste of wine when drinking in public.  This is the main reason I was hype about the tasting.  What better way to find some that I might actually like?  Well I lucked out, or I should say Sand Castle lucked out because I liked 4 of the 12 wines we tasted and I purchased all four.

My favorite of the four was the one that I'd had with my lunch.  Since I do not know much about wine I asked the wine steward, the sommelier, to give me the sweetest thing they had.  He poured me a glass of the "mangria" they'd made with Claret.  It was so good.  To make the "mangria" (so named because it is so easy a man could make it) you pour the Claret over sliced oranges.  They don't even have to be peeled, just wash and remove the little sticker.  I purchased 2 bottles of the Claret one for me and one for a co-worker/friend.

My 2nd favorite wine was the Alpine Spice.  When this wine was described to me I did not think I'd like it.  It is filled with autumn spices.  You can smell this wine in the Castle.  It reminds you of pumpkin or apple pie.  I did not think I'd like it because I'm not a big spice fan.  Boy was I wrong.  This wine was really good too.  The big plus with this wine is you can serve it chilled or warm.  The sommelier said that the Alpine Spice wine is also really great over vanilla ice cream.  I can't wait to try this.

The other two wines I purchased were Cuvee Blush and Johannisberg Riesling Late Harvest 2008.  These two were tied for my 3rd choices.  They were also sweet as I only like sweet wines.  The Johannisberg Riesling comes in a smaller bottle.  It is a sipping wine that you drink from a little cordial glass. (those tiny wine glasses). The Cuvee Blush has a really unique hidden talent.  During the tasting we were given a few things to eat (cashews, chocolates, and dried wasabi peas) to see how the flavor of the wine changed with different foods. We were given the wasabi peas to try with the Cuvee.  We chewed the wasabi and before swallowing we sip the Cuvee Blush.  All of the heat from the wasabi disappeared.  Instead we could taste the flavor of popcorn.  Isn't that neat.  Cuvee Blush's hidden talent is that it kills the heat from spicy foods.

We had such a good time at the winery. We were able to walk around the winery a bit and even checked out an artist who's work was on display in one of the rooms up stairs.  I loved the work but it was out of my price range.  All of the people who worked there were so friendly.  I thought wow, this is what it's like to work where everyone likes there job.  Then I though oh maybe this is what it's like to work where everyone is drinking wine while they work LOL.

What a great day that was.  I had great company going to and from the winery with my girlfriend.  I got to hang out with Jese and hear about what's happening with her luxury charity events (follow Luxegiving to learn more).  Despite my normal dislike of wine I tried some new ones and found 4 that I liked.  Plus I got to go to a real life castle.

Find out more about Sand Castle Winery on http://www.sandcastlewinery.com/.  You can also follow them on twitter https://twitter.com/SandCastleWine and check out there facebook page.  Sand Castle did not sponsor or pay for this post in any way.

If there is something you don't like to eat or drink would you go to a tasting to explore a different variety or would you steer clear???

Make it Happen Monday: Happiness

Reactions:
Happy Monday!

It is the first day of the work week for most of us. I hope you had a great weekend, but now it's time to look forward to what we can accomplish this week.  No coming down with a case of the Mondays :-) Instead set some weekly goals and share them us on FB and Twitter for Make It Happen Monday. (hashtag #MakeitHappenMonday)

Here are some of my goals for this week:
  • Continue getting in 64 oz of water each day.
  • Add some fruit to my diet.
  • Exercise 3 hours this week.
  • Write the three blog posts that are in my head including my girlfriendology post for August.
  • Follow up on a few opportunities to work with brands.
  • Continue working on the 1st Chasing Joy event. Coming soon!
  • Decide on a topic for the August #ChasingJoy twitter chat (taking place 4pm EST Sunday Aug. 5th).
  • Stay on top of my work at the day job.
  • Get to bed earlier.
  • Give meditation another try.
Wow!  That is  a lot of goals for me this week.  I do have one more that I'm not listing above because I'm taking care of it right now.  That is to announce the winner of last weeks Scavenger Hunt.  Last Weeks Scavenger Hunt was an easy one.  The theme was Happiness and the goal was to post an image that contained the word Happiness to the Chasing Joy FB page or tweet it to me on Twitter.

There were several really good images.  I enjoyed seeing the posts they made me smile.  I hope they made you smile as that is the idea behind the Scavenger Hunt, to add just a little something joyful to your day and time online.  It was hard to decide on a winner but I managed to do it.  This weeks winner is Morgan Dragonwillow!!!

I chose Morgan's image because it contained the word Happiness and also because you could see the genuine happiness on Morgan and her Granddaughter's faces. I love the way it reflected the Joy we can find in spending time with our favorite family members.

Flashback Friday: Hairstory

Reactions:

This is how it works. Flashback Friday is where we Flashback to our older blog posts and link up! You can also post a link to your Flashback post on the Chasing Joy Facebook Page. Hypnosis for Weight Loss: It's Not Magic, But it's Alright

Reactions:
It has been a few weeks since my being put under hypnosis.  Since then every time I go to eat a potato chip I feel the need to cover my mouth tightly with my hands.  Just kidding LOL.  Actually there have been no adverse effects.

If you remember, my first time being hypnotized included a story about a Queen (who I assumed was me) who bases her food choices on what is good for her.  For a little while after I did find myself thinking often "is this good for me to have" when faced with a menu or meal option.  I wish I could say that resulted in me only having what was good for me in every occasion but I have not been lying on this blog so I better not start.

The hypnotherapist said that hypnosis was not a magic pill for weight loss.  She was right.  I have been gaining and losing the same 1.5 lbs the last few weeks.  The good thing about this it means that I am doing some things that lead to weight loss.  The bad thing about it is that it means I have not  been consistent enough with those behaviors.

The major change that I feel is a direct result of the hypnosis is that I have been able to make many choices that were good for me without feeling deprived.  I have thrown in some days where I do not have any junk food and I did not feel that I was missing out.  I knew that I could have them again on another day.  I have been able to have a large salad much more often for dinner (my mom's suggestion :-) and I have not felt resentful or that I was having rabbit food.  I feel my attitude toward changing my diet and food in general improving.  I give the hypnosis the credit.

With there being positive but no negative results of the hypnosis.  I figured I'd keep the appointment I had made and go ahead and meet with the hypnotherapist again.  This third meeting was my 2nd time being put under. I initially i did not feel the 2nd hypnosis went as well as the first.  However, by the  end of the session I changed my mind.  This session was...   Wait! instead reading about it check out the video I made right after the session.

I bet most of you have tried to lose wight before. Have you ever spent time working on your thoughts and attitudes about food or do you think it is all calories in vs calories burned???

Life Lessons From Tina Fey, The Joy of Bossypants

Reactions:
I am not in the habit of doing book reviews, I will leave it up to my good bloggy friends, A Girl Named Michael and  Rivera Runs Through It. Occasionally I will come across a book that I find offers some very useful pearls of wisdom that can help us maintain a more Joyful life. While I love to read and find it in general to be a great source of joy I have only felt the need to write about a specific book here twice. Once about the book Thin is The New Happy and now about the book Bossypants by Tina Fey.

This book was a selection from my book club. (shout out to Juniper Street Book Club Whoot!) I did not suggest the book but I'm happy that someone did.  I loved this book.  I like Tina Fey, enjoy her movies,  but I really did not know much about her nor would I have ever really called myself a fan  I don't consider myself a fan of many entertainers.  I just don't think about them very much.  But after reading her book Bossypants I am definitely a fan.

For starters she grew up right outside of Philly which is an automatic plus for this Philly Girl.  The book is really funny and even a little sarcastic.  I am a big fan of appropriately used sarcasm.  I loved how she talked about her dad, her husband, and weather or not she would have a 2nd baby.  But none of these things made me feel that I should write a blog post about the book.

What made me feel this book was blog worthy was how Ms. Fey talked about different experiences she had through out her life as life lessons.  I loved the life lessons she included in the book and the way she was so matter of fact and clear in explaining them.  I will share a few of my favorites here, but not all of them because I highly recommend you read the book yourself.  It is a quick read and good for a summer reading list.

OK. Here goes.  My favorite life lessons from Bossypants, Ms. Tina Fey:
  • Don't be so quick to say No. "Start with a Yes and see where that takes you."
  • Be confident in what you say. "Speak in statements instead of apologetic questions." For example doesn't I'm Awesome. sound much more confident that I'm Awesome?
  • Make your own decisions. "When people say, "You really, really must" do something, it means you don't really have to.  No one ever says, "You really, really must deliver the baby during labor". When it's true, it doesn't need to be said.
  • Don't let haters, joy thieves, or critics (not talking about constructive criticism here) side track you from your dreams, goals, or finding your Joy. "Do your thing and don't care if they like it".
When I started reading Bossypants I expected to be entertained.  I expected to laugh.  I expected to learn about Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock.  I did not expect to learn life lessons that would help me in my quest to find and maintain Joy.  Have you ever read a book or watched a movie or show for the purpose of entertainment and come away with so much more?  Where have you found life lessons when you were not looking?

The Hunt for Laughs

Reactions:
Hey Joy Chasers!

Has your weekend been joyful?  Mine has been going quite nicely.  I won a happy hour and a few of my girlfriends came out with me to take advantage of the discounted dinning and drinks.  I had my 3rd hypnosis session and went to a winery for the first time.  Today I'm headed on a short road trip to visit family and check out a casino.  Cross your fingers that come out a winner :)  You can look for up coming blog post on the hypnosis session and the winery visit.  The vlog I took after the hypnosis is already up on my You Tube Channel if you are too excited about it to wait for the post.

I hope your weekend is going as good as mine.  But If not I know just what you need something to make you laugh.  This past week we had another Chasing Joy Scavenger Hunt.  The purpose of the Scavenger Hunt is to keep things fun and Joyful on Facebook and Twitter. It is not the big things that happen occasionally that helps up grasp and maintain Joy. It is really the little things that we do every day that make us smile and laugh that allow us to have a Joyful life. Even something as light hearted and silly as searching for an image for a Scavenger Hunt can improve our mood and shift our focus to something pleasant and playful that will make you laugh.  That is what this past weeks hunt was for, an Image that made you laugh.

Several Joy Chasers participated in the Hunt, but there can be only one winner.  The winner of last weeks Scavenger Hunt is Joy Chaser Hayley.  This Image truly touched me.  It made me smile and chuckle a little.  This little Joy Chasers face is so descriptive you can just imagine what she's thinking.  She's obviously enjoying her bike ride and she has the best seat for it.  Her outfit is also full of whimsy and Joy :-)

This Image is from Hayley's Blog Down Side Up. Down Side Up is about changing perceptions of Down's Syndrome.  Hayley is known as @DownSideUp on Twitter check her out.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the scavenger hunt.  Stay tuned to the Chasing Joy FB and Twitter pages on Tuesday to find out what we'll be hunting for this week. Remember the winner gets a mention here.

What is your reaction to this photo? Does is  make you smile or laugh? How does it make you feel?

Can the Joy of Independence Hurt Your Relationships?

Reactions:
The 4th of July has come and gone.  But July is still the month of my country’s Independence, in that spirit check out my July Girlfriendology.com post.  I’m asking, Are You Too Independent to be a Good Girlfriend?   Since girlfriendology.com is all about promoting the benefits of and strengthening the bods of female friendships I’m talking about being a good girlfriend (i.e. a good friend to your girls).  However, I think a woman’s independence can impact romantic relationships as well.  Head on over to my post and let me know what you think.

Confession: Confidence Has Left the Building!

Reactions:
Rocking the Go Get'em Dress!
So I have not been doing that well lately.  This is one of those confession type posts where I revel that I have sort of stumbled and let Joy get quite a few yards ahead of me.

So what is wrong you ask, you ask.  It's my confidence.  It seems to have taken a little vacation.  Now logically I know just how awesome I am.  I know that I'm smart, pretty, funny, and an overall great person.  But I just have not been feeling that way.  I have not been feeling very good about myself and it sucks.  As a matter of fact it double sucks because I know better.

What has brought this on?  I think it is a combo of two things. For one, the lovely new title of Morbidly Obese that has been bestowed upon me has been weighing on me heavily.  There is nothing like being told something you already know and knowing your going to have to discuss it again in a few short weeks.  In defense of my doctor.  He was not mean to me or anything.  He went over my chart and just emphasized how I have to keep trying to get this weight off.  That in time the complications from carrying this weight are very serious.  It's just hard when someone points out that although I have been working on treating my body like a temple and getting healthier it has not showed results on the scale or on my waistline.

The other thing weighing on me is participating in this thing we call the dating game.  It can be rough out here for a 30 something awesome chick such as myself.  Just the other day a very handsome, yet not too bright, gentleman declined to take my phone number after we'd  had a rather pleasant conversation that included lots of smiling and laughter.  Hence my hypothesis that he is not too bright.

So it is this deadly combo of dating woes and feeling really conscious of my weight that has me not feeling so good about myself.  But don't worry this post will not leave you on a sad and dreary note.  As I said above I know better.  I know that feelings are just feeling and not always a true reflection of reality.  So while I may not feel great about myself I know it will pass and I'll be back to feeling my awesome self again.

There are all sorts of things people do to get themselves out of this kind of funk.  One of my friends swears by buying a new shade of lipstick.  I don't think that will do it for me.  But the other day, the very same day that Mr. Handsome proved that he was not Mr. Intelligent, I was feeling better than I had in a really long long time.  I was all dressed up and I had some place to go.  A black tie fundraiser.  I had on what Beyonce might call a Freak'em Dress.  But I'll call it a go get'em dress.  I knew I was looking my best and was feeling more confident than I had felt in months.  This confidence is what lead me to approach the man in the first place (that is not my usual style).

Even though that did not go how I had hoped I'm still feeling better about myself.  So while I cannot say I'm feeling my best or as confident as I should.  I do feel I am on the up swing.  My advice to anyone who may be feeling like I've been feeling get dressed up and see just how fabulous you are.  Sometime it takes an external reminder of how fabulous you are to help you feel that way on the inside.

Don't let decreased self confidence or not feeling good about yourself throw you off your course toward Joy.  Remember that feelings  are not reality, that this too shall pass, and put on your freak'em, your go get'em dress or your brand new lipstick and remind yourself how awesome you are.

I'm sure we all go through periods like this Joy Chasers.  What do you do to build up your confidence and feel good about yourself?

The Hunt for a Joyful Image

Reactions:
Happy Monday Everyone!

Remember don't come down with a case of the Mondays :-)  Instead set some weekly goals for Make It Happen Monday.

Last week we had our first Chasing Joy Scavenger Hunt.  I got the idea for the Scavenger Hunt because I like to keep things fun and Joyful on Facebook and Twitter.  I also know that it is not the big things that happen occasionally that helps up grasp and maintain Joy.  It is really the little things that we do every day that make us smile and laugh that allow us to have a Joyful life.  Even something as light hearted and silly as searching for an image that includes the word Joy can shift our focus to something pleasant and playful.

So you don't have to wait any longer.  The winner of last weeks Scavenger Hunt is Joy Chaser Melissa.   I love this image!  For me it represents how you can find Joy in the most unusual places if you look for it :-)  Melissa found this photo on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/epler/406505707

It is no surprise to me that Melissa found this great image.  Melissa is also known as Ms. Positivity.  She is the author of the blog Positively Shining.  Her blog is all about how to stay focused on the positive through life's ups and downs.  Check her out on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the scavenger hunt.  Stay tuned to the Chasing Joy FB and Twitter pages to find out what we'll be hunting for this week.

Flashback Friday: The Little Things

Reactions:
Happy Flashback Friday :-) I hope you all had a great 4th of July.

Lately I have not been feeling as confident as I like, so this weeks Flashback, The Little Things, is right on time.  It is about the little things you do that are external, and overall not that important, that make you feel better on the inside.

If this is your first Flashback Friday welcome; this is how it works. Flashback Friday is where we Flashback to our older blog posts and link up! Any Questions???

Reactions:
Every now I will get an email, FB inbox, twitter DM, or comment that asks me a question. Questions are good. Questions mean that you guys are engaged and paying attention to all of my Joyful ramblings. Questions mean you want to know more about why I do something or said something or even how I did something.

I have been meaning to do a FAQ section for a while but still have not done it. But nevertheless I try to be very responsive to any and all questions I get, except for the spammy “Want to get more hits?” question. Those get ignored. One time someone questioned me challenging my pursuit of Joy. I was more than happy to answer his question. :-)

More often than not I answer these questions via the same medium they came in, FB, email, twitter, blog comment, etc. Remember, in elementary school when the teacher said no question is a dumb question and that another student is probably wondering the same thing? Well I’d venture to guess that theory is just as applicable here and now as it was then. So from now on I will on occasion stop our normally Joyful programming to publicly answer some Joy Chaser Questions. Fear not you name will not be used. So ask away?

As I prepare for my email to explode with all of your questions, insights, and observations I will start us off with this question I received last week about having a twitter party also called a twitter chat.

Joy Chaser: Chasing Joy, Hi. Question...is all you have to do for a Twitter party is #. I want to do one…

Me: Hi, yes. Just pick a time for it to start and tell everyone the hashtag. I like to use Tweetchat during the party so I can see all the tweets. Good luck :-)

Joy Chaser: How do you do Tweetchat?
Me: Go to tweetchat.com. log in with Twitter. Put the hashtag in the search box. It will pull up all the tweets using it. You can type in the box at the top and it will automatically add the hashtag. Play around with it.
Joy Chaser: THANKS LADY!

Putting Me Under, The Joy of Being Hypnotized

Reactions:
I have lost about 4lbs since meeting with the hypnotist. I cannot give the credit to hypnosis but it is a factor in this small success. During my first meeting with the hypnotist she explained that hypnosis is not a magic weight loss pill. It is a technique I can use as an assist to my practical efforts of eating less calories and burning more calories. You can see how I felt after that first meeting in my post My Morbidly Obese Temple [I apologize for the video losing audio half way through :-( ]

I meet with her again a week later. In our second meeting she “put me under” (cue scary music lol) Well I am happy to report that I have not been barking like a dog, making chicken noises when my phone rings or any other such non-sense that we’ve all seen on TV. The session was nothing like TV at all. Basically it was like…we’ll just check out the videos I did before and after my sessions. I promise the audio and video are good throughout.

Now that it has been a couple of weeks since I was hypnotized I feel comfortable saying it has been a positive experience. I struggle much more with diet than exercise. Since the hypnosis session I have been much more conscious of what I am eating and giving thought to “what is good for me” to eat. I have been able to have several self-declared junk food free days because I know it is not good for me to eat junk food every single day. The days have not even been that hard as I know I can still have theses treat foods but deciding for myself that they are not good for me to have each day.

This consciousness regarding my diet is not second nature though and is very much a conscious effort. I still have times when I know E, Y, and Z would be good for me yet I go for A, B, and C anyway. Change does not happen overnight and apparently neither does hypnotic success. I do see another session in my future.

Have you ever been hypnotized? Was your experience like mine? After watching my videos would you be more inclined to give hypnosis a try to help you with a personal challenge?
